Great Deal Secrets of a Summer Night (The Wallflowers, Book 1)
I have recently read all the books in the series. My ranking of them is as below:
Scandal in Spring (Book 4) - most favorite - 5
It Happened One Autumn (Book 2) tied with The Devil in Winter (Book 3) - both 5's
Secrets of A Summer Night - a strong 4
I enjoyed reading this novel with all the characters and sub-plots in it, but the heroine really rubbed me wrong with her "superior" and illogical attitude over Simon Hunt, merely a butcher's son, who obviously could take care of her family, like, two years ago. She still had too much pride, even when her family no longer had the financial means to keep going if it weren't for her mother's, cough, benefactor to throw a little money for a sexual favor in return. And she knew about it.
I liked her better at the end when she matured and dropped her old-fashioned views about the value of peerage and thinking herself to be superior to her husband's family. But, before then, she was really annoying. I did like her in the other three books.
I give it a 4 because it's still a great novel to read like the Rounders game in knickers which was fun to read, the show in the prologue, her mother's stabbing of her "benefactor", pairing her with Hunt's mother on the trip, the brother, Hunt's family, Westcliff, the friendship with the Wallflowers, the disaster at a factory, and so on. All those details that make for a great read.

I took this book and could not let it down, I finished it in two days, I simply love it, I adore the hero Simon Hunt who stop at nothing to get the girl he wants and that for once he is not an aristocrat he is just a hard working and wise man. I found the story refreshing and funny and sexy it has it all!!
